Summary of Method
The FIA method (ASTM D-1319) used a fluorescent reagent to differentiate the various components of a fuel. Its use is applied in boiling samples no greater than 315 ° C. The method is used in the Oil Industry to determine the aromatic content percentage volume relationship. This technique quantifies aromatics, olefins and saturates. It provides information on the type of aromatics in the sample.
